The same drug at the same dose can work well in one person and cause side effects in another. Genes determine how quickly the body breaks down a drug and how well it works – one test provides this information for life.
The panel analyses 12 pharmacogenes: drug-metabolising enzymes, transporters and markers of severe hypersensitivity reactions. For each gene the report states the metaboliser status and the drugs for which the international CPIC and DPWG guidelines recommend a dose adjustment or an alternative: antidepressants, painkillers, anticoagulants, statins, oncology drugs, proton pump inhibitors and immunosuppressants.
Proven in Europe: in the PREPARE study with 6,944 patients in 7 countries, genotype-guided prescribing with a 12-gene panel reduced clinically relevant adverse reactions by 30% (Swen J. J. et al., The Lancet 2023; 401: 347–356).
Important: share the report with your doctor or pharmacist – never change a medication without medical advice.
